Abstract:
To detect a physical characteristic of a shape memory alloy actuator and of a member or the like that is in contact with the shape memory alloy actuator, without using a dedicated sensor.SOLUTION: A shape memory alloy actuator control device 1 controls a length of a shape memory alloy member by applying a current, comprising: a target resistance setting unit for setting a target resistance value to make a shape memory alloy have a predetermined length; a current supply unit for supplying a current suited for the target resistance value to the shape memory alloy; a resistance value measurement unit for measuring a resistance value of the shape memory alloy to output a measured resistance value; a calculation unit for calculating a resistance value difference between the measured resistance value and the target resistance value, or a variation of the resistance value difference per unit time after the current supply unit has supplied a current; a physical quantity estimation unit for estimating, based on the resistance value difference or the variation, a physical quantity relating to the shape memory alloy after the current supply unit has supplied the current; and a physical quantity output unit for outputting an estimated physical quantity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
