To provide a sheet conveying device and an image forming apparatus, which attains sufficient separation performance, separats an attraction belt from a sheet stack only by swinging an attractive separation unit, and reduces a number of components.
In the attractive separation unit 12, the attraction belt 13 is stretched taut by two stretching rollers (driving roller 13A, driven roller 13B), and the driven roller 13B which is the stretching roller on the sheet conveying direction upstream side of the two stretching rollers is supported to be movable in the vertical direction within a predetermined range with respect to the upper surface of the sheet stack. A fulcrum of the swing of the attractive separation unit 12 is set to a position upstream in the sheet conveying direction of the driven roller 13B.
