To provide a sheet feeder and a recording device as the improvement of a conventional arrangement that has been structured so that sheet feed pressure is applied directly on a pickup roller to result in a poor operating easiness at the time of setting a rewritable paper sheet or that a sheet feed tray is installed inclining to such a degree as allowing stacked rewritable paper sheets to fall down by their own weights involving such a problem that three or more sheets fall down by their own weights and intrude to a separating nip part to cause double feed unless a setting position is decided when a plurality of sheets are to be set on the sheet feed tray.
The sheet feeder has a pressurizing preceding separating means 1 equipped with a pressurizing plate 66 displaceable between a first position in which the free end makes pressure contact with a sheet feed roller 62 at a certain angle that allows the preceding separation of the leading edge of the rewritable paper sheet 3 fed from the pickup roller 61 and a second position in which the sheet 3 can be fed upon separating from the first position, and with a compression spring 67 to energize the plate 66 in such a direction that the free end of the plate 66 takes the first position.
