To provide a sheet for ink jet recording which is greatly improved in cracking of an ink receiving layer and excellent in glossiness, ink absorbing properties, the quality of an image and long-time shelf stability.
In the recording sheet for ink jet having on a substrate the ink receiving layer containing inorganic particles, a cationic polymer and a binder, the average primary particle diameter of the inorganic particles is 30 nm or less and the cationic polymer is a polymer (A) containing at least one kind of constituent unit (a1) expressed by general formula (1) or (2)[wherein m and n denote integers of 0 or 1-4 independently respectively and X an acid residue] and at least one kind of constituent unit (a2) expressed by general formula (3), (4), (5) or (6)[wherein R1-R8 denote hydrogen atoms or 1-4C alkyl groups independently respectively and Y and Z the acid residues independently respectively].
