To perform a shrink proof processing rich in endurance without using a cellulose reactive resin, etc., by performing a hot water treatment of a natural cellulose-based fibrous structure having a cellulose III crystal structure content within a specific percentage range under an unstrained state.
This method for shrink proof processing is to treat a natural cellulose-based fibrous structure such as a cotton plain woven fabric with liquid ammonia in advance for converting cellulose I and II crystal structures in the natural cellulose-based fiber to a cellulose III crystal structure so as to make the cellulose III crystal structure content based on the total crystal content by ≥10% and <40%, preferably ≥10% and ≤35%, and then perform a hot water treatment at 100-150°C under an unstrained state so as to convert at least a part, preferably 25% of the above cellulose III crystal structure again to the cellulose I or II crystal structure for imparting ≤1.5% shrink proof property in a non resin-processed cotton woven fabric after washing 10 times.
