Abstract:
To provide a side airbag device which can be formed only by general components and effectively inhibits movement of a head of an occupant and movement of the occupant to the oblique front side.SOLUTION: A far side airbag device 1 is provided at a side surface part at the center side as seen in a vehicle width direction of a backrest part SB of one of separate seats disposed in the vehicle width direction and inhibits movement of an occupant P. The far side airbag device 1 includes: a cushion 2; and an inflator 3 which inflates and deploys the cushion 2. The cushion 2 includes: a first portion 2a and a second portion 2b which inflate and deploy in such a manner that the portions get over front surfaces of the adjacent seats, one and the other seats, and receive a side part of the occupant P to inhibit movement of the occupant P when the inflator 3 receives a signal; and a center part 2c provided between the first portion 2a and the second portion 2b. The center portion 2c is provided with a protruding part 2e which may protrude at least in a vehicle forward direction farther than the first portion 2a and the second portion 2b to receive a head of the occupant P when the cushion 2 inflates and deploys.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
