To provide a side panel attaching device in a desk with shelves, composed by attaching leg bodies to supports erected at regular intervals with leg attaching members, attaching a top plate between adjacent leg bodies to make the desk, attaching brackets to the supports, mounting a shelf board on the adjacent brackets, and attaching side panels to ends of the desk firmly in such a way that the outside appearance is excellent.
Locking holes 13 are formed on both front and rear faces of each support 3 in the center line of the support, and leg bodies 4 and brackets are attached by using the locking holes. A side panel 11 is disposed in the space formed by the surrounding faces of front and rear faces of the supports and side end faces of the top plate and shelf boards when the positions of the side end of the top plate 6 mounted on the leg body and the sides end of the shelf boards mounted on the brackets approximately match the center line of the support. A downward hook 33 projecting at the inner side end of the rear end of the side panel is engaged/locked with each locking hole, and the inner face of the side panel is connected to the leg body or top plate at the position apart from the support.
