To provide a silver halide photographic emulsion having high sensitivity, giving a high contrast highlight part and less liable to fog under pressure and to provide a photographic sensitive material.
In the silver halide photographic emulsion, the coefficient of variation in equivalent circular diameter of all grains is ≤30%, and ≥70% of the total projected area is occupied by epitaxially joined silver halide flat platy grains which satisfy the following requirements; (i) the grains are silver iodochlorobromide grains having (111) faces as principal surface, (ii) each of the grains has an epitaxial part in at least one apex of the host tabular grain and (iii) when the distance from the center of the host tabular grain to the edge is represented by (d), the host tabular grain has a circular zone having ≥4 mol% silver iodide content in the region >0.7 d beyond the center.
