PURPOSE: To provide the silver halide photographic material which possesses excellent rubbed fog (rubbed flaws) resistance of a film, and has high sensitivity free from the left color contamination after the rapid processing and high covering power.

CONSTITUTION: As for a silver halide photographic material which has at least one layer of silver halide emulsion layer on at least one surface of a supporting body, at least 50% of the whole projection area of the silver halide particle in the emulsifier layer is occupied by the planar silver halide particles having an averages aspect ratio of 3 or more, and the planar silver halide particle is constituted of core/shell shaped particles, and the colloidal silica is contained in the emulsifier layer.
