Position information on a defective pixel characteristic of a solid-state image pickup element 1 constituting a part of this solid-state image pickup device is outputted from a previously recorded defective information memory 5 to outside the device through an output circuit 6. Consequently, the solid body of the solid-body image pickup device can be discriminated by using the position information and it is decided whether or not data are image data processed after its image pickup operation.
