To attain a camera system by which high speed tracking of a moving subject and high definition imaging for appreciation can be performed using one solid-state imaging apparatus.
As structure of the camera system with the solid-state imaging apparatus 1 and a camera signal processor 2, the solid-state imaging apparatus 1 is provided with a pixel array part 6 in which a plurality of pixels 8 are two-dimensionally arranged like a matrix and a control means for performing control so as to read a pixel signal once in all pixels reading modes from the pixel array part 6 whenever a pixel signal is read for n times (n is an integer 2) by thinning mode from the pixel array part 6 and the camera signal processor 2 is provided with a signal processing part which performs motion detection of a subject using an image obtained by thinning reading for n times.
