Abstract:
To resolve problems that formoterol has been used only in the form of powder in conventional inhalation therapies, because a formoterol solution can not be stored with enough stable way to assure medicinal quality of a product for a long time, and liquid aerosol products of formoterol have been found to be unsuitable for use of nebulisers for ambulant inhalation therapy.
A solution preparation for inhalation therapy containing the formoterol is prepared to have pH of about 4.5-5.5 and comprises 0.9-1.5 mg/ml of formoterol in an ethanol/water-mixed solvent, a pharmacologically acceptable quantity of preservative and a pharmacologically acceptable quantity of Na-EDTA.
