PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a splicer used for joining new and old packaging materials (raw material film) when exchanging a roll body supplying the packaging material at present to the machine with a new one, which solves the problem of requiring a large volume due to a turret structure employed by the conventional splicer in which plural roll bodies are circularly moved on the same circumference, by restricting the roll bodies to move only in the vertically downward direction and thereby reducing a required volume.SOLUTION: A splicer 1 is of a type that discharges a film roll body, which is formed by winding film raw material F around a roll core R3 not provided with flanges, in a vertical downward direction when the film raw material has been consumed and in a state in which only the roll core remains. In the splicer, a bobbin reel 5 is arranged vertically above an old roll body R1, which moves in upward and downward directions while clamping both ends of a roll core of a new roll body R2. Further, the roll core of the old roll body is discharged when the film raw material therearound is consumed, the new roll body is moved downward, and an initial end of the film raw material of the new roll body is joined to a terminal end of the raw material film remaining in the splicer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
