Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stabilized ammonium nitrate by blending potassium nitrate and an organic dye containing an aryl sulfonate group.
SOLUTION: Potassium nitrate and the organic dye containing one or more kinds of the aryl sulfonate groups selected from a group composed of benzene sulfonate group and naphthalene sulfonate group are blended by restpectively 1-7wt.% and 0.1-1wt.%. The organic dye is e.g. an acid Magenta or Amaranth. In the shown embodiment, at first 100g ammonium nitrate is fed to a constant temp. 100ml reactor provided with a magnetic stirrer, a temp. probe, a nitrogen purge and a bottom valve, is melted and then 3.10g potassium nitrate and 0.2g acid Magenta are poured therein. A violet transparent solution obtained by melting is stirred for 30min and then, is poured on a metallic plate from the bottom valve. A solid product obtained by cooling in a nitrogen atmosphere is pulverized. It is recognized by the expansion analysis of the product that the transition point at 32°C is eliminated.
