Abstract:
To provide an austenitic stainless steel which has excellent surface properties without generating surface flaws upon hot rolling.
The austenitic stainless steel thick plate having excellent surface properties has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.005 to 0.07% C, ≤0.8% Si, 0.5 to 4.0% Mn, ≤0.04% P, ≤0.008% S, 16 to 19% Cr, ≤13% Ni, ≤0.05% Al, ≤0.08% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, wherein δ-Fe calculated value prescribed by expression (1) satisfies 0.5 to 7.0, and δ-Fe measured value in the plate surface after thick plate rolling is 0.1 to 0.7: δ-Fe calculated value=2.9×([Cr]+0.3[Si]+[Mo]+0.7[Nb])-2.6×([Ni]+0.3[Mn]+0.25[Cu]+35[C]+20[N])-18 (1).
