A standing assist device 1 including a linear motion cylinder 3 can assist a standing motion without imposing a burden on a person's waist or joint when a person stands from a sitting state by linearly moving a third link 13 of a link mechanism 2 with the linear motion cylinder 3 so as to let a backrest ascend, descend and tilt by a fourth link 14 fastened with the backrest and linearly move a person's hip joint. Since the standing assist device 1 relating to the present invention includes the linear motion cylinder 3, it is possible to miniaturize the device and decrease the number of components by excluding a Chebyshev link mechanism, and assist standing with a linear hip joint orbit.
