Title:
STEAM IRON
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02191496
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow a water nozzle of a water tank to be automatically closed regardless of the operating state of an operating part by a method wherein when a water tank is dismounted from an iron main body, a water fill port of the water tank is automatically closed by the dismounting action of the water tank.

CONSTITUTION: When water is supplied to a water tank 2 or discharged from the tank 2 after ironing work finishes, a latch 19 is disconnected from a retainer 20 to dismount the water tank 2 form an iron main body 1. At this time, the contact between a valve stem 16 and an opener 27 are undone by the dismounting action, so that valve body 17 is descended by the repellent force of a spring 18 to close a water fill port 13. This action is carried out whether a knob 36 of an operating part 35 has been set to 'STEAM' or 'DRY'. Therefore, whenever the water tank 2 is dismounted from the iron main body 1, the water fill port 13 is always closed, so that the water is prevented from unexpectedly leaking form the tank 2.
