PURPOSE: To obtain a small diameter step motor with high torque by arranging a plurality of stator coils on the same axis and also by arranging a plurality of rotor magnetic poles in the axial direction in such manner that said poles correspond to said plurality of stator coils.
CONSTITUTION: Many irregularities are formed on both axial end faces 3a, 3b of a yoke 3 to provide a first stator 6a, 6b group, and bottom faces of housings 4a, 4b are cut out circumferentially to form second stators 7a, 7b, respectively. Said two stators are arranged circumferentially in the same positions and with the space of 2π at an electrical angle in the same group. Also, disc magnets 11a and 11b are respectively arranged so that respective magnetic poles shift from each other by π/2 at an electrical angle circumferentially. If coils 2a and 2b are excited with a phase shift of π/2, the disc magnets 11a, 11b receive a turning force alternately and a rotor 1 performs a step rotation consequently. In this manner, stators with different excitation phases are arranged separately so that a step motor can have a small diameter and obtain a high torque.
