To provide a string retention and extraction system which can prevent the occurrence of the disorder of retained strings.

The string retention and extraction system has a string retention device 18 and a winding section. The string retention device 18 has a string retention roller 32 having a first string contacting section 32a, and a string passing member 31 which has a second string contacting section 31a and is provided in a direction along a rotation axis of the string retention roller 32. Furthermore, the string retention device 18 alternately passes strings over the first string contacting section 32a and the second string contacting section 31a. The winding section extracts the strings retained in the string retention device 18 in a rotation axis direction of the string retention roller 32 and untangles the strings.
