Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new amphipathic compound useful as a biodegradable surfactant or as an intermediate for synthesizing glycolipid-based biosurfactants.
SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I [(n) is 1-3; R17 to R21 are each H, an acyl, benzyl or silyl; R22 and R23 are each H, an acyl, silyl or SO3M (M is H or an alkali metal); Y is benzyloxy or the like]. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting a galactose compound of formula II (R10, R11 and R16 are each H, an acyl, or the like; R12, R13 and R15 are each H or an acyl; R14 is H or an acyl) to esterification, selective deprotection and sulfuric ester group introduction successively in this order; wherein the compound of formula II can be prepared by modifying, as necessary, a commercial galactose compound and allyl dibenzyl galactose to synthesize two kinds of galactose compound which, in turn, are dimerized. The compound of formula I is specifically bindable to L-secretin, therefore being usable as an anti-inflammatory agent.
