To provide a superconducting coil device which is configured into a compact form, and efficiently cools superconducting coils to improve stability.
The superconducting coil device includes a superconducting coil group 2 consisting of a plurality of superconducting coils 1 arranged in toroidal formation at equal intervals, and a freezer 4 which cools each of the superconducting coils 1. The freezer 4 is disposed in a space that is the central portion of the toroidal formation of the superconducting coil group 2, the central portion being immune to the effect of a leak magnetic field. A cold head 4a of the freezer 4 is connected thermally to a cooling plate 3 via connection members 5 having high heat conductivity, the cooling plate 3 being disposed on at least one of both side faces and peripheral face of each superconducting coil 1. The cold head 4a thus conducts coolness uniformly in a short distance to each of the superconducting coils 1.
