This supporting body for an image material consists of a paper essentially comprising natural pulp as the base, and the surface of the paper base where an image forming layer is to be formed is coated with a resin layer (A) containing a film forming resin, while the other surface of the paper base is coated with a resin layer (B) essentially comprising a polyethylene resin. In this method, the fiber length of the natural pulp is ≤0.60 mm. The density of the paper base is ≥1.05 g/cm3, and the resin layer (B) essentially comprising a polyethylene resin is applied at ≥200 m/min coating rate.
