PURPOSE: To simplify a supporting mechanism, also to reduce a cost, and to improve the performance of a telescope, etc., to which the supporting mechanism is attached.
CONSTITUTION: A rod 23 is supported by a universal joint 22 in a state where it can rock in an optional direction and a counter weight 24 is provided on one end of the rod 23. A gimbal 25 provided on the other end of the rod 23 is constituted in a state where it can rock in the optional direction with respect to the axial direction of the rod 23 and it does not turn while making the rod 23 as a shaft. A body 28 to be supported is connected to the gimbal 25 through the universal joint 26. The rod 23 is made well-balanced at the supporting point of the universal joint 22 by the gravity of the counter weight 24 and the gravity of the body 28 to be supported.
