PURPOSE: To provide a preparation sufficiently staying at an administered site or inserted site and excellent in the sustained release property of a medicine contained therein by compounding an oily suppository base agent with the mixture of a polyacrylic acid with polyvinylpyrrolidone.
CONSTITUTION: The preparation comprises (A) an oily suppository base agent (e.g. a triglyceride or a higher alcohol) and the mixture of (B) polyacrylic acid with (C) polyvinyl pyrrolidone. 100 pts.wt. of the component A is preferably compounded with the mixture of the component B with the component C, the weight ratio of the components B:C being 1:4 to 4:1. The preparation is preferably obtained by mixing the components B and C with a medicine such as 5-FU, kneading the mixture with the component A, thermally melting the kneaded product at 50°C, charging the melted product in a container for suppository and subsequently molding the container.
