To provide a surface treatment device capable of imparting desired surface properties to the surfaces of image prints obtained by various kinds of image forming methods and to provide an image forming apparatus which is provided with the surface treatment device and is capable of easily forming an image having the desired surface properties.
The surface treatment device is provided with a sheet body preheating part 17 which heats a sheet body 10 beforehand, a sheet body heating means 11 which transfers the surface properties of a contact member to the sheet body heated on the sheet body preheating part and a sheet body cooling means which cools the sheet body in such a state that the sheet body is brought into contact with the contact member. Therein, it is preferable that the contact member is an endless belt 13. Further, preferably, the sheet body heating means is arranged inside the endless belt and comprises an inside heating roller 12a which extendedly hangs the endless belt rotatably together with rotation rollers 18a, 18b and 18c arranged inside the endless belt and an outside heating roller 12b which is arranged outside the endless belt and holds the endless belt rotatably together with the inside heating roller.
