Abstract:

To provide a surgical system and method including a surgical instrument configured to wirelessly transmit identifying data specific to the surgical instrument and a console configured to receive the identifying data.

A surgical device includes a hand-held, battery-powered drive unit including: a housing including a base portion, an intermediate portion including a distal half-section extending from the base portion, and a proximal half-section selectively securable to the distal half-section, and a gasket interposed between the distal; and proximal half-sections of the intermediate portion; and a mounting portion provided in the distal half-section of the intermediate portion, the mounting portion configured to accept a corresponding portion of a surgical attachment.
