Abstract:
PURPOSE:To remakably shorten heating time in the polymerization of vinyl chloride and suspension-polymerize the vinyl chloride in improved productivity without damaging the physical properties of the polymer by charging vinyl chloride, a polymerization initiator, a polymerization inhibitor, water and a suspending agent by a specified method. CONSTITUTION:The ordinary temperature deionized water in an amount of 20-50wt.% based on all the amount of water in the polymerization system, a polymerization initiator (e.g. hydroquinone) and a suspending agent (e.g. partially saponified PVA) are charged to an autoclave. Then, vinyl chloride and a polymerization initiator such as lauroyl peroxide are charged and stirring is started. After the stirring reaches a stready state, the remaining 50-80wt.% of the deionized water based on all the amount of water in the polymerization system and heated above the polymerization temperature is charged to the autoclave to heat the mixture to the reaction temperature to suspension- polymerize the vinyl chloride. The temperature of the heated deionized water is preferebly 60-90 deg.C.
