Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a swell latch assembly which uses a smaller number of parts, can be operated and attached easily, and can be assembled inexpensively.
CONSTITUTION: A swell latch assembly 10 is mounted in an opening formed in a first member 82 for retaining the first member 82 against a second member 84 in a state where the first member 82 can be released to a latched position. The assembly 10 includes a handle 12 which is adapted for pivotal rotation. As the handle is pivotally rotated between open and closed positions, the handle 12 facilitates the axial movement of a shaft 14. A bush 16 is provided to the shaft 14 and moves in the axial direction correspondingly to the movement of the shaft 14. When the handle 12 is at its closed position, the bush 16 releasably retains the second member 82 in engagement with the first member 82. A retaining member 18 connected to the shaft 14 is also included and secures the bush 16 in its mounted position on the shaft 14.
