PURPOSE: To provide a press button type switch operating mechanism having a simple structure, good durability and impact proofness.

CONSTITUTION: A switch operating mechanism is provided with the shaft 8 of a press button 2 held on a panel 1 and slid, a switch 5 switched ON by pressing the press button 2 and a plate spring 10 provided between the shaft 8 of the press button 2 and the switch 5 with one end fixed and the opposite side thereof movable. A part of the plate spring 10 pushed by the shaft 8 of the press button 2 is located between the fixed part of the plate spring 10 and the part of the switch 5, for pushing an actuator. Thus, the switch 5 is surely switched ON by means effective use of the plate spring 10, excellent impact proofness is obtained because a force of pressing the press button is softened and applied to the switch 5, the form of the plate spring 10 is simple, related structures are simple and thus durability can be improved.
