To provide a system for measuring a substrate concentration designed to more simply measure the concentration of an AhR (aryl hydrocarbon receptor) substrate including TCDD (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin) with higher sensitivity and more readily, more simply and more inexpensively measure toxic substances assuming a dioxin-like activity in the environment.
A coding region of an expressed gene of a fusion protein using the full length or a part of the AhR is integrated into the downstream side of a promoter sequence operable in a yeast in the system for measuring the substrate concentration. A control sequence controlling the expression level of the protein by controlling the transcription level of a messenger RNA, e.g. an untranslated region sequence is inserted between the promoter sequence and the expressed gene of the protein. The expression level of the protein is regulated by the base sequence of the untranslated region.
