To provide a system for controlling a groundwater level, which does not pump excessive groundwater from pumping wells, and ensures the safety of construction thereof, and to provide a method for controlling the groundwater level.
The system 1 for controlling the groundwater level is comprised of flow rate sensors 4, on-off valves 5, water gauges 7, and a control section 8. The flow rate sensors 4 are provided for the respective pumping wells 2, and each measure a quantity of groundwater pumped from the pumping well 2 via a column pipe 3. The on-off valves 5 are each set for the column pipe 3. The water gauges 7 are set in a plurality of observation wells 6, respectively. The control section 8 controls the quantity of pumped groundwater by operating the on-off valves 5 so as to maintain the water level of each observation well 6 at a predetermined value, based on water level data measured by the water gauges and flow rate data measured by the flow rate sensors 4.
