To provide a system and method for cooling a steel sheet by which the steel sheet is properly cooled at a position just near a hot-rolling mill.
This system is provided with: a first upper header 21 for jetting the cooling water obliquely in a direction separating from the hot-rolling mill 1 directing toward the upper surface of the steel sheet S; a second upper header 22, oppositely to the first upper header 21, for jetting the cooling water obliquely in a direction approaching the hot-rolling mill 1 directing toward the upper surface of the steel sheet S; a first guide 11 which is connected to a scraper 9 arranged to the upper work roll 2 of the hot-rolling mill 1, with which the underside of the first upper header 21 is covered and which is extended to above a position where the cooling water from the second upper header 22 is collided to the steel sheet S; and a second guide 12 which is situated in the rear of the first guide 11 and with which the underside of the second upper header 22 is covered, wherein the second guide 12 and the second upper header 22 are integrated and made ascendable and descendable along the jetting direction of the cooling water of the second upper header 22.
