Abstract:

To provide a system and method for cooling a superconducting rotor coil (74).

The system comprises a rotating shaft (18) combined with the superconducting rotor coil (74). The rotating shaft (18) comprises an axial path (58) that extends by penetrating the rotating shaft (18), and a first path (56) that extends as far as the axial path (58) by penetrating the wall of the rotating shaft (18). The axial path (58) and the first path (56) can so operate as to convey a low temperature fluid (24) to the superconducting rotor coil (74) by penetrating the wall of the rotating shaft (18). A low temperature fluid transportation joint (22) can be provided to supply the low temperature fluid (24) to the first path (56).
