PURPOSE: To permit an easily detachable attachment of a cylindrical needle, by providing a thrusting needle reciprocally movable to a tag attaching location of an article, a cylindrical needle for protecting the thrusting needle and a thread hooking member for bringing up and down the thread hooked from the end of the thrusting needle by a thread catching hook provided at the end thereof.

CONSTITUTION: The title apparatus is provided with a thrusting needle 20 reciprocally movable to a tag attaching location of an article with a thread T passed through an eye 20a at the end thereof and a cylindrical needle 10 for protectively covering the thrusting needle 20 passing through the article V. Also provided are an engageable rod 29a for engagement with the cylindrical needle 10, an engageable member 29 rotatably set in a position partially intersecting a base 10d of the cylindrical needle 10 and a thread catching hook 34b formed at the end of a tag attaching device for hooking the thread projecting laterally from the end of the thrusting needle 20. There are further provided a thread hooking member 34 for bringing up once the thread caught as mentioned above and them bringing the same back down, a thread gripping mechanism 4 having a thread gripper 45 movable into and out of proximity with the end of the thrusting needle 20 with the thread end grasped thereby, a knot forming mechanism 5 having a jaw which is located in the reciprocal moving path of the thrusting needle 20 and which rotates while opening and closing and a thread gathering mechanism 6 for arranging the threads orderly for knotting by the knot forming mechanism 5.
