A CD-ROM drive 21 is operated by a driving command from a control panel 29, extracts a video signal with a video expanding circuit 23, etc., when a video CD, etc., is inserted into the drive 21 and extracts an audio signal from the video CD through an audio expanding circuit 26, etc. A decoder 22 is a decoding means which decodes text data when CD-ROM that records the text data is inserted into the drive 21. Internal audio data ROM 33 is connected to a speech synthesizer 32, and they constitute an audio synthesizing means which performs audio synthesization of an audio signal that corresponds to the text data which is decoded by the decoder 22 based on audio data which is stored in the ROM 33.
