To provide a thermal recoding material excellent in coloring sensitivity and the resistance to heat and a plasticizer.
The thermal recording material contains, on a substrate, a colorless or light-colored basic dye and at least one kind of sulfone-series developer expressed by general formula (1) [wherein R1 and R2 denote a C1-8 alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl or aryl or a halogen group, A hydroxyl, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl or aryl or an electron absorbing group and a, b and c integers of 0-3] as a developer capable of developing a color in contact with the dye, and at least one kind of phenylbenzylsulfone derivative expressed by a general formula (2) [wherein R3 and 4 denote a C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl or aryl group respectively and n and m integers of 0-2] as a sensitizer.
