The thermal recording material comprises a thermal recording layer containing leuco dye and a colorant on a base material where the colorant contains at least one selected from 4,4'-(3-(tosyl)ureide) diphenylmethane and 4,4'-(3-(tosyl)ureide) diphenyl ether and further contains 4-hydroxy-4'-benzyloxy-diphenylsulfone.
