To provide a thermal recording medium which forms a stable curtain film without causing intrusion of air bubbles and film forming failure when applying a coating liquid for a thermal recording layer and a coating liquid for a protective layer by a curtain-coating method, and which is excellent in productivity, quality, and in particular, in print preservation.

The thermal recording medium has, on its support body, at least a thermal recording layer and a protective layer formed by a curtain-coating method by using the coating liquid for the thermal recording layer and the coating liquid for the protective layer. The coating liquid for the thermal recording layer contains a water-soluble adhesive, a specific dialkylsulfosuccinic acid salt, and characteristically, as developer, at least one selected from: 2,2'-[4-(4-hydroxyphenylsulfonyl)phenoxy]dietylether, 4,4'-bis[(4-methyl-3-phenoxycarbonylaminophenyl)ureide]diphenylsulfone; and a compound zinc salt comprised of an aromatic monocarboxylic acid and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid.
