Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a thermoplastic resin from deteriorating by heating by incorporating a specified amt. of zinc oxide whiskers treated with a polyorganosiloxane in a thermoplastic resin compsn. CONSTITUTION:Tetrapod-shaped zinc oxide whiskers each of which consists of a nucleus and an acicular crystal part extending in four different directions from the nucleus part and wherein the diameter of the base of the acicular crystal part is 0.7-14mum and the length from the base to the tip is 3-200mum is treated with a polyorganosiloxane selected from polyorganohydrogensiloxane, cyclic organo(hydrogen)siloxane and polyhydrocarbonoxysiloxane. A thermoplastic resin compsn. consisting of a thermoplastic resin, an elastomer, a reinforcing material, a filler, etc., is compounded with 1-60wt.% whiskers thus treated to obtain the title compsn.
