PURPOSE: To make the entire part of the recorder thin and compact, by disposing a bulky image-receiving sheet supplying part, a platen roll, a thermal head, an ink sheet supplying part and a used ink sheet containing part in a substantially horizontally form.

CONSTITUTION: The entire body of the recorder is contained in a substantially a rectangular parallelpiped housing 21. The platen roll 4 is disposed at a substantially central part in the housing 21, with the axis of rotation thereof set in parallel to the front face and the bottom surface of the housing. The image-receiving sheet supplying part 9 is provided on the front side of the platen roll 4. The thermal head 1, the ink sheet payout roller 5 in the ink sheet supplying part and a take-up roll 6 in the used ink sheet containing part are disposed on the back side of the platen roll 4 substantially horizontally. The housing 21 is provided with an image-receiving sheet takeout port 20 in the front face or at a front part of the top surface. To facilitate fitting and replacement, the head 1, the ink sheet 3, the payout roll 5 and the take-up roll 6 may be enclosed in a cassette. Accordingly, the ink sheet supplying part and the used ink sheet containing part which do not require frequency supply, replacement or disposal are provided on the rear side while the sheet take-out port 20 is provided in the front face or at the front part of the top surface, satisfactory operability is obtained.
