NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I (wherein R1 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; R2 is benzoyl, benzyl or α-hydroxybenzyl; R3 and R4 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl or an alkenyl or may be combined with the formamidine functional group to form a heterocycle; R5 is H, a 1-4C alkyl or the like; (n) is 0 or 1; A is a 1-4C alkylene; and X is H, a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl or the like).

EXAMPLE: N-methyl[Δ2-imidazolinyl]-2-thio]-2-o-chlorobenzoyl-2'-chloro-4'- acetanilide hydrochloride.

USE: Remedies against ulcers and gastrointestinal disorders.

PREPARATION: A halogen derivative of formula II (wherein Y is a halogen) is reacted with a thioformamidine of formula III in an organic solvent (such as methanol or ethanol) under reflux to obtain a compound of formula I.
