Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for authorizing three-dimensional printing of parts.SOLUTION: An apparatus comprises a parts library 208, a database 210, and a parts management system 212. The parts library 208 is configured to store a plurality of part definition files 216. The database 210 is configured to store entries identifying printing of parts using the plurality of part definition files 216. The parts management system 212 is configured to receive a request for a part definition file 216 in the parts library 208, identify the part definition file 216 in the plurality of part definition files 216 in the parts library 208, receive an indication of printing of a part using the part definition file 216, and store an entry identifying the printing of the part using the part definition file 216 in the database 210.
