Abstract:
To provide a three-phase AC arc furnace reducing cold spots, reducing heat loss and swiftly performing melting, and a control method thereof.SOLUTION: A three-phase AC arc furnace for melting a metallic raw material, comprises: a furnace body having an upper furnace shell and a lower furnace shell and charged with the metallic raw material; three electrodes forming an arc; an electrode elevation driving device elevatingly driving the respective electrodes separately; and a water-cooled panel provided at an inner circumference of the upper furnace shell. The water-cooled panel comprises: a first part provided at a first region adjacent to the three electrodes in the whole circumference of a virtual circle almost matching with a shape of an inner wall upper edge of the lower furnace shell in a plane view; and a second part provided at a second region in which a distance from the three electrodes of a point on a virtual circle is far than the first region. The furnace further comprises: a temperature detection part detecting at least either a temperature of the first part of the water-cooled panel or a temperature of a cooling medium flowing through the first part; and a control device controlling the electrode elevation driving device based on the temperature detected by the temperature detection part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
