NEW MATERIAL:The N-substituted guanidinothiazole derivative of formula I [R1 is Het-(CH2)n-(Het is 5 or 6-membered ring containing 1 of 2 N, O and/or S; n is 1W5), substituted alkyl or formula II (R3 and R4 are H, halogen, lower alkoxy or amino; Y is methylene, O, etc.; m is 0W4), amino, hydroxy, lower alkylthio, etc.; R2 is pyridyl or furanyl].
EXAMPLE: 1-[2-(2-Pyridyl)ethyl]-2-[4-(2-pyridyl)-2-thiazolyl]quanidine trihydrochloride.
USE: Useful as an agent for suppressing gastric secretion and remedy for gastric diseases. It has histamine H1, H2 receptor antagonistic activity and also protecting activity to the gastric mucous membrane.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the hydrogen halide of S-(lower alkyl)isothioureide derivative of formula III with the compound of formula IV.
