PURPOSE: To enable simultaneous working of a large number of needles or the like and to reduce working stage and cost by subjecting a piano wire to surface working such as conical heading, pointing, etc. by a rolling method thereby forming the stem part of the needles or the like.

CONSTITUTION: A piano wire 1 is inserted into a flat heade 3 and a pointer 4 by which said wire is worked to a blank material 2 for a needle or the like having alternately a conical head part 7 and a pointed head part 8. Such material 2 is fed to a drawing device, by which the material is drawn to form a needle point having a prescribed size. The material is then formed with a string groove 16 by a string groove working device 15 and thereafter one side part of a needle stem part 19 is plain-milled by a plain milling device. A large number of the needles or the like are simultaneously worked by the above-mentioned method, by which the stage is reduced and the cost is reduced.
