PURPOSE: To measure the activity of alkali metal ions in sample solution on the basis of the measurement of a decay time by changing the effect of functional groups on a decay time for fluorescence emitting group depending on the activity of the alkali metal ions.
CONSTITUTION: The indicator is constituted of three parts, fluorescence emitting group, functional groups and ionohores joined with each other. The fluorescence emitting group absorbs a spectrum (400-120nm) in a visible or near infrared ray area and show an advantageous fluorescence decay time of >10ns. The functional groups give influence to the fluorescence decay time for the fluorescence emitting group while interacting with the fluorescence emitting group. The ionohores form proper reversible bonding to special type of alkali metal ions and changes interaction between the fluorescence emitting group and the functional group, defining the fluorescence decay time for the fluorescence emitting group as the function of the concentration of individual alkali metal ions. In this way, the activity of the alkali metal ions can be measured on the basis of the measurement of the fluorescence decay time.
