Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester polymer composed of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, etc., and respective specific dihydroxy compound and aliphatic glycol, having an intrinsic viscosity larger than a specific level, small optical anisotropy and excellent heat-resistance and moldability and useful for disk substrate, lens, etc. CONSTITUTION:The polyester polymer is an essentially linear polymer having an intrinsic viscosity of >=0.3 and consisting of (A) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (or its ester-forming derivative) such as terephthalic acid and naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, (B) a dihydroxy compound of formula (R1 is a 2-4C alkylene; R2 to R5 are H, a 1-4C alkyl, an aryl or an aralkyl) such as 9,9-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]fluorene and (C) a 2-4C aliphatic glycol such as ethylene glycol. The molar ratio of the component B to the component C in the resin is preferably >=10/90.
