Title:
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6049566
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase capacity and charge-discharge cycle life by using expansion graphite prepared by expanding layer-to-layer spacing in a rechargeable battery in which a graphite molding is used as a positive electrode.

CONSTITUTION: A rechargeable battery is formed with a graphite molding positive electrode, a metal lithium negative electrode, and nonaqueous elelctrolyte. Lattice constant of the (002) space of graphite used for the positive electrode is limited to 6∼50. When this expansion graphite prepared by expanding layer-to- layer spacing is used in the positive electrode, the area forming electric double layer is maximized and the inner surfaces, occupied by electrolyte, of electrode particles are minimized. Modings using this expansion graphite are also used in both positive and negative electrodes. This battery has large capacity and long charge-discharge cycle life and is used for various applications.
