Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a chewing gum base continuously releasing flavor because a spice is released during chewing by incorporating an elastomer matrix obtd. by melt-spinning an elastomer component, a spice and an elastomer solvent. CONSTITUTION: An elastomer component (A) such as a styrene-butadiene copolymer, polyisobutylene, polyisoprene or natural elastomer, a spice (B) selected from among a natural or artificial flavor, a sweetener such as saccharin or aspartame and a mixture of them and an elastomer solvent (C) such as pentaerythritol of gum rosin or wood rosin are melt-spun to form a spice dispersed elastomer matrix and the objective chewing gum base is obtd. by incorporating 10-75 wt.% of the matrix based on the amt. of the gum base. The amt. of the component A is 5-20 wt.% of the amt. of the gum base. The amt. of the component B is 0.01-40 wt.% of the amt. of the matrix.
