PURPOSE: To prepare a powder stick for eye shadow, handy to carry, giving comfortable feeling to the skin, and forming eye shadow smoothly, by adding a specific amount of water containing a water-soluble binder such as CMC to a pigment, kneading and forming the mixture, and evaporating the water from the stick.

CONSTITUTION: A powder stick 1 for eye shadow is prepared by adding 40W20% of water containing a water-soluble binder such as CMC (carboxymethylcellulose) to 60W80% of a pigment, kneading and forming the mixture, and evaporating the water therefrom. The stick is composed mostly of powder having fine particle size and is hardened with an extremely small amount of the water- soluble binder. Accordingly, it has smooth feeling to the skin, and adheres firmly to the skin. For the practical use, the stick is sold in the form of pencil 5 wherein the stick is inserted between a pair of long plates 2, 2' of in the protrusible form inserted in a protruding tube 6, and it is handy to carry and can be applied easily and quickly to the eye.
